Associate and joint venture businesses
We also have significant investments in associate and joint venture businesses in the UK, India and China. As well as representing substantial potential for future growth and giving insight into important markets, these investments are a source of earnings and dividends, further strengthen our balance sheet and provide a strong source of value for shareholders.
We have a strategic relationship with Phoenix in the UK, through which we are their asset manager of choice. The relationship also offers potential for new asset management mandates from further Phoenix acquisitions and potential access to up to 10 million customers via our platforms and wealth channel.
Heng An Standard Life
Our joint venture in China is Heng An Standard Life. This offers a long-term strategic opportunity through exposure to the pensions market in China, a market that is expected to grow significantly. It also offers potential opportunities for collaboration through our investment expertise.
HDFC Asset Management
HDFC Asset Management is a leading asset manager in India, one of the world’s fastest growing markets. Our stake in this business offers potential for collaboration as investor behaviours and regulations change.
We hold a significant stake in HDFC Life, which is consistently ranked among the top three private life insurers in India. We have realised significant value from this investment through the sale of part of our stake over the last three years.
Together we invest for a better future. We do it to make a difference to the lives of our clients and customers, our employees, society and our shareholders.
Our strategy is to build a vibrant and value-creating purpose-led organisation, with the current and future needs of our stakeholders at the heart of all we do.
- For our clients and customers – this means building solutions to create wealth and help meet their needs.
- For our employees – this means creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
- For society – this means promoting positive change through how we operate and invest.
- For our shareholders – this means turning opportunities into sustainable long-term returns.
Success for our business depends on our ability to retain and attract the right talent to drive performance.
We offer a variety of opportunities across our business. We also run dedicated recruitment programmes for school leavers and graduates, as well as undergraduate internships.
We aim to take a leading role in addressing key societal issues – through our investment approach, developing innovative products and services, and engaging with communities and charitable causes.
We also commit to maintaining high ethical, legal and professional standards in our business practices.
