Our Global Volunteer Day supported the communities we live and work in
On Friday 18 May we took part in our Global Volunteering Day to raise awareness of the importance of volunteering and show our commitment to making a positive difference in our local communities around the world. Over 400 of our people used one of their three paid volunteering days a year to take part in a wide variety of activities over 24 hours.
First to volunteer on the day were our people in Sydney, followed by those based in Asia. In Singapore our volunteers accompanied older people to Changhai airport to enjoy the Heritage zone and assisted the WatKhoi School library in Bangkok.
In Europe and the UK we supported over 16 charities. Volunteering activities included helping at a care home, painting a playground, and teaching children financial basics through a chocolate investment trading game.
The ‘volunteering relay’ finished in the Americas. In Philadelphia our people volunteered with Cradles to Crayons a charity that provides homeless and low-income children with the essentials they require to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued.
Our people also supported food banks via generous donations and their time in every region.
We are committed to the communities where we live and work, and are proud of the difference our people made on Global Volunteering Day and continue to make every day.
